"I’m in my apartment, in my bed…and I don’t know how I got here! All I remember is collapsing in a taxi after leaving Mary Jane — and then that dream! Heave help me, have the pressures of the last few weeks taken their toll — in insanity? Am I losing my mind?"
The next couple of pages are dedicated to Carol undergoing hynotherapy with Dr. Michael Barnett (in his first appearance; he and Carol later date, which has to cross an ethical line even in the seventies).
As melodramatic as Carol’s amnesia seems, I’ve always thought it was a heartbreaking storyline, especially in light of later events. Her distress is completely earnest.
